After watching the wall lizards at base of castle, to the south by steps and bunker, walked around the back and down on to shingle beach, walking back up path, lizard jumped to try to catch a moth - saw the lizard in the grass and noted it was green - managed to get a picture.

Walking back from small pebble beach to north of castle - just started up steps, watching a moth - lizard jumped to try to catch it - spotted the lizard- recognised it as a green lizard having just been watching the wall lizards on the other side - and took photograph - emailed Prof John Wilkinson (have just done a reptile and amphibian course as part of a cert in biological recording and species ID) - confirmed as green lizard.

Steve Clarkson - 22/7/2015

I am holidaying here and come from York England and am a keen nature watcher.
I saw the sign about grass snake sightings so proceeded very quietly/slowly, scanning ahead and thinking how silly this was as I will never see one. I hadn't got long before the bus was due so didn't venture far and proceeded back still scanning ahead and there was something I had never seen before - a large green lizard covered in light green spots basking in the evening sun (1800hrs). As i watched it, it stirred and then withdrew to the undergrowth and that was the end of my sighting.Back at the hotel I went on line searched for Jersey green lizard and found your site. Camera not to hand so no photo. I hope this is helpful and wish you the best of luck with your project. I will be pleased to provide any more info you may need
